About the Project

Boxes of Love for Mom is a memorial of love by an anonymous donor in Western Massachusetts.

Hi! We are so excited that you are interested in learning more about Boxes of Love for Mom! These donations were started by a working, first-time mother who was motivated to help other mothers by her own experiences during and after the birth of her first child in 2019.

At a day shy of 32 weeks pregnant, the donor tragically lost her own mother (Nana) to a sudden and unexpected heart attack. Nana was eagerly awaiting the birth of her first grandchild. Our donor and her family were devastated. Boxes of Love for Mom is a living, loving memorial for a woman who brought so much love and light into this world. With every box that is lovingly and uniquely put together, we hope to continue to share Nana’s light with as many families as we can reach.

Becoming a mother (matrescence) is beautiful and challenging in ways that are difficult to understand until it is experienced. And even then, each mother’s experience is so unique. This is a time of profound physical, psychological, and emotional change – that is still not entirely understood or well researched by the scientific community. 

Each and every mother deserves to feel supported, respected, and valued. Boxes of Love for Mom seeks to provide new mothers with tangible support to show them that they are loved and valued members of the community. Our donor is working with a local hospital, non-profits, faith communities, family, and friends to bring these boxes directly to mothers recovering after labor and delivery. Mom, you are so loved!
